Mysteries and Histories
64Mysteries and Histories
Daybreak takes yesterday and turns it into history
Unfinished business shifts into an unsolved mystery.
Sunlight flows into the room, illuminating a fresh new day
Late night dreams and unfulfilled promises are chased away.
January first approaches like crisp white paper ready for ink
Winter rattles closer with padlock in hand, hiding the past link by link.
Crunching snow blankets the ground, concealing the traces of humanity
The steady steps of the journeyer hastily buried by the snow into obscurity.
The years of snowflakes decay the path of those that have gone before
Revealing the harshness of the cold, surrounded by family no more.
Who was here? How did they live? What did they know? Where did they go?
Answers are elusive while the mysteries entice us with this desire to know.
Following the fragments of their history left by journal keepers of old
Long forgotten mysteries glint, glimmer and tantalize us like the purest gold.
Treasure seekers encounter rich nuggets of the past in an old faded journal
Stumble upon etchings in marble with reminders of a life prior to the funeral.
Names and dates reflect the passage of time, indicating the living of life
Honorable mentions occasionally given to the parents, the children, and the wife.
A new year comes and another year goes while humankind's history continues to unfold
Leaving hints of the life they lived here on Earth, leaving stories that yearn to be told.
